Want to keep Big Brother out of your PC? 
After installing Windows 98, when you use the Windows Update feature, Microsoft wants you to register, which in turn sends registration and configuration files about your PC to Microsoft.  To trick Windows 98 into believing that it is already registered, you will need to change a value in the registry:
(Note: Editing your registry incorrectly can cause adverse reactions-advanced users only)

1) Run the file REGEDIT.EXE.

2) Go to the key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Regdone

3) Edit and change the value to "1".
